There are a variety of foreign and specialty wads that claim to be 1-oz. 28 ga. wads, but no one has been able to get a real "working" recipe for them from all I have been able to determine.

But I understand that they do work OK for 7/8 oz. loads.

I use the HV28 wad for 7/8oz. loads. In the one ounce load I tried with it, the #5 lead shot stuck up over the wad petals about 1/4". Not exactly ideal, loading 1oz. into a HV28 wad is a lot like loading 7/8oz. into a Federal 28S1 wad which is designed to hold 3/4oz.. You can get it all to fit, but the patterns are not the best, probably 'cause the pellets rubbing up against the barrel fly different from the ones in the wad.

Here is a link to wad that might hold an ounce of larger hunting size lead pellets, it is a newer wad and I have not seen data for it but I am sure data is available from BPI.-

The ball no question makes of aye's and no's, but left or right as strikes the player goes!

I bought a bag of BP Tps wads and loaded up a few rounds, wads are very tall and found I had to trim them down or they got caught up in the crimp, strugled to get full weight of shot in hull too, was short on compoents to try any other loads.
mind you the load I use for HV28 wads, calls for 7/8 oz and I can only get in 13/16.
load 30gr H110, HV28 and 7/8 oz #6,
